Ovarian cysts resemble bubbles in an ovarian cysts ultrasound. It contains fluid around a thin wall. These cysts are called functional cysts. Cysts in the ovaries are formed when there is a fluid remain when follicle do not rupture and release egg.

Women of all ages can be affected by ovarian cysts. It does not choose who will be the victim. Benign cysts which are considered harmless can dissolved in two to three menstrual cycle even without any treatment.

Ovaries are organ that produce egg during the process of ovulation. While women undergo this process, a cyst-like known as follicle is developed inside the ovary. Ovarian cysts are grouped as functional or simple cysts and abnormal cysts. Functional cysts are benign and harmless while abnormal cysts brought you pain, bleeding, discomfort during the attack and even death.

Functional cysts are just normal cysts that are form during the process of ovulation. Since it occurs during the menstrual period, menopausal women are safe. These types of ovarian cysts eventually disappear in a matter of weeks and don’t need any therapy.

Dermoid ovarian cysts are the type of cysts that are developed containing various types of tissues such as skin and hair.

Endometrioma cysts are also known as the chocolate cysts found in the endometriosis. These are developed when a similar tissue like that of the lining of the uterus attaches to the ovaries.

Cystadenoma cysts are formed in the cells located on the outer surface of the ovary.

Polycystic ovarian disease is cause by the follicle buildup. When the ovaries are thickening, it will be enlarged and cannot undergo the ovulation. It is a common cause of fertility problems.

In many cases, there are no ovarian cysts symptoms. If there is any sign of having ovarian cyst, it maybe pain or pressure in he lower part of the abdomen, pain during intercourse and the like.

Pain is either brought by ovarian cysts size, bleeding ovarian cysts or bursting of ovarian cysts. There is pain because the abdominal tissue is irritated and the blood flow to the cyst is being blocked.

Another ovarian cysts symptom is having delayed, irregular or unusual periods. If you happen to experience any of the said symptoms, the first thing that you should do is to see your doctor and undergo some checkups.

There is different treatment of ovarian cysts. If you have simple cysts, you are required to wait until the cysts are totally gone but you need to see your doctor for a series of checkups. If you have a family member who has ovarian cancer, your blood will be tested and then you will be recommended to have a surgical biopsy. If the cysts are persistent after a series of treatment, you need to have surgery. Surgery may not harm your ovaries but in some cases, one of your ovary is needed to be removed during the surgery.
