Sometimes an ovarian cyst may not be exclusively consist of follicular liquid and blood alone. There are types of cysts like, the dermoid cyst which is composed of other elements. This type of cyst causes growth of various bodily tissues such as fat, hair, nails, sweat glands, cartilages and even bones. This is an example of complicated ovarian cyst. Any kind of calcification in the cyst would be under this kind. Endometriomas is also a type of complicated or complex ovarian cyst. This is developed when the lining of the uterus is also found in the ovaries. Both solid and liquid elements are found in complicated ovarian cysts. Apart from that, there is a risk of it being cancerous compared to simple functional cysts.
